Welcome to the 2018 Horsham German Fest where you are invited to celebrate the region’s German heritage through a week-long German food crawl and frinj events which will include German music, beer, wineries, tours and eateries featuring German themed food which will be launched on November 9 running through til November 17 which is the feature event date.
Maydale Reserve at the Horsham Showgrounds will play host to the Horsham German Fest on Saturday November 17, from 2pm – 10pm with a large open-air space allowing plenty of alfresco dining and picnic seating along the Wimmera River. Lighting of the river gums will be a special feature from dusk.
A traditional beirhalle (beer hall) in The Maydale Pavilion will feature live music direct from Adelaide, local DJ’s, a local oompah band, a fully licensed bar, German dancers, a beer stein holding competition and Miss (& Mr) Horsham German Fest!
Authentic German beers have been sourced and a variety of canned ciders, wines and piccolo’s of bubbles will be available along with soft drinks and free water for your designated driver.
A variety of food trucks with katoffelpuffers, schnitzels, kranskies, pfankuchen, berliners and other surprises will be waiting to be consumed in the alfresco dining area in the new rustic beer garden! A second exclusive ‘silo bar’ will cater for everyone’s needs and what’s a festival without giant jengar and dominoes? Take home some mettwurst or other delicacies which will be available for sale in the beer garden.
Enter the Horsham German Fest through the fast lane by purchasing your ticket online at www.trybooking.com/355556 for $25 and grab your beer stein as you come in (limited to the first 150 patrons). Choose the slow lane and you’ll be up for $30 at the door. The Maydale Reserve does not have EFTPOS facilities, so make sure you cash up before you arrive. A beer/drinks ticketing system will be used on the day. The drinks ticket box will be open at the gate on arrival.
Group bookings are available as well as designated driver (DD) packages.
On site camping is available for $16.50 powered site and $11 for unpowered site. This event is a fundraiser for the Horsham Agricultural Society for their beautification projects in The Cattle Shed and surrounding riverfront hub.
The Horsham German Fest is managed by the Horsham Agricultural Society with the support of an experienced crew of community volunteers and lead by local Event Manager, Andrea Cross as Fest Director. Proceeds from the Horsham German Fest will go towards the development of a new pavilion to cater for a multitude of community needs on the banks of the picturesque Wimmera River.
